About Wildcard

Commerce is changing. The work behind it should too.

Wildcard helps ecommerce and retail teams understand how products appear in AI shopping, decide what to improve, and connect approved work to commercial outcomes.

Our purpose

Give commerce teams a clear way to operate as shopping becomes a conversation.

Shoppers increasingly ask an AI system to compare products, interpret constraints, and make a recommendation. That changes how a product is discovered before it ever reaches a cart.

Ecommerce teams need to know what an agent sees, which sources it relies on, and where product information is incomplete or unclear.

They also need a practical path from that evidence to catalog work, review, publishing, and measurement. Wildcard is built around that full loop.

The company

Founded around a new operating problem in retail.

Wildcard was founded to help brands and retailers work through the shift from link-based discovery to AI-mediated product discovery.

The company is based in San Francisco and is part of Y Combinator's W25 batch. We are building alongside commerce teams while the workflows, standards, and buyer habits around AI shopping are still taking shape.

Our story is the work itself: understand the market carefully, build with real operating constraints, and be precise about what the product can do today.

The product operating loop

Move from an AI answer to the next accountable action.

The loop keeps market observation, product work, review, and outcomes connected.

  1. 01

    Observe

Track the prompts shoppers use, the products agents recommend, and the sources that shape each answer.

  2. 02

    Understand

Connect changes in visibility to product facts, catalog gaps, citations, competitors, and market context.

  3. 03

    Act

Turn evidence into scoped catalog and content work, with people reviewing what should move forward.

  4. 04

    Measure

Read visibility, publishing activity, referral traffic, orders, and revenue in the same commercial context.

How we work

Principles for a market still being defined.

01

Start with the product

A recommendation is only useful when it leads back to a real product, a clear fact, and a decision a commerce team can make.

02

Keep evidence attached

Teams should be able to inspect why work was proposed, what source supports it, and what changed after it shipped.

03

Protect human judgment

Wildcard can organize and draft work. The people responsible for the catalog and brand decide what is approved.

04

Close the commercial loop

Visibility is a signal. The work matters when teams can connect it to discovery, consideration, and sales.
